TN Technical Services provides Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Classification and Verification studies to support the specification and assessment of Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs). SIL Classification determines the risk reduction required from each SIF based on identified hazardous scenarios and the protection provided by other independent layers. The assessment is conducted using an agreed methodology, such as Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
SIL Verification evaluates whether the proposed or existing SIF design achieves the required safety integrity. The assessment considers equipment reliability, system architecture, proof testing and other relevant design and operational parameters. Recommendations are developed where improvements are required to meet the specified SIL requirements. The findings are documented to support the design, operation and maintenance of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
